the online course has taught me to become even more aware and mindful of my body

Although I have had many riding lessons with Desiree in person, the online course has taught me to become even more aware and mindful of my body and that I can influence or “re-programming” my body and mind through various techniques: For example, through breathing techniques, the Alexander Technique, the TRE method (explained by Francois) … The course also teaches you to pay even more attention to your horse’s needs. I have learned to look more closely: How does my horse walk, how does my horse chew, how straight or crooked is my horse, what do I have to pay attention to with my saddle, and so much more … And I liked the exchange with the other riders from…

The content referring to balance on the horse, is also so fundamental

It’s a really simple way to become aware of fundamentals. How you are in your body and how you use your body. The ideas given to help perceive our own balance are easy and practical. I liked the separation and therefore emphasis on physical vis a vis mental/emotional. The content referring to balance on the horse, is also so fundamental that I felt it starts a process of opening my eyes and mind to a larger picture. In the end through trying some movements that are key to sitting on a Horse, the impact of me on others/horse was lifted out clearly. That is really valuable in so many ways, starting with my relationship to my horse from his back.

so many things you can work on without sitting on the horse

I loved the fact that there are so many things you can work on without sitting on the horse which will help you with riding and everyday good posture. Making sure you are straight, using your left hand as much as your right hand. How to correct your seat with beautiful pictures, send bubbles to all part of your body. I really enjoyed the part where you spoke about our mood around horses and how it directly influences the horses behaviour. This has made me so much more aware about my emotions around my horse.

your laid back style is also really lovely

I found it really helpful to focus on my own awareness off the horse in order to bring that to the rest of my life as well as riding! Several people had similar issues which was good to know that it wasn’t just me! Desiree, your laid back style is also really lovely!

interested in becoming aware of things which influence the balance of horse and rider

The course „Riding without a horse“ by Desiree du Pisanie is divided into 4 modules which deal with different aspects and kinds of balance. Many things which are discussed are theoretically known by everyone – for example that the rider has to be straight, balanced and loose when wanting his horse to be straight, balanced and loose – but Desiree manages that you becomes aware of the own mind and body and she gives tips and practices how to work on yourself. It is an amazing experience to stand in front of a mirror, having Desiree`s voice in your ear which leads through the body to become aware if the right side and the left side are really the similar….

Her knowledge about anatomy is extraordinary

Desiree and her Weightless Riding method is a epiphany. When I first met her years ago my riding changed for the best. I always wanted to burden the horse as little as possible. Desiree teaches exactly that way. Her knowledge about anatomy is extraordinary and there is so much knowledge about spirit and behaviour on top. Her course „riding without a horse“ gives you everything you need to find your and your horses balance. It is great, it is fun, your body will love it. And it is absolutely necessary if you love your horse.

With happy horse and happy rider in harmonious balance.

The course is an eye opener and will not only better your riding guaranteed, but it will affect your quality of life by realizing what aspects of the body and mind to be aware of to be in balance. Helping us humans become aware of what horses notice automatically without us even realizing that we have given a particular signal (on and off the horse, with body and emotion through body language). Once balanced in yourself it gets much easier to be in harmony with the horse. Then the fun begins! With happy horse and happy rider in harmonious balance.

It is unbelievable what little things affect riding.

As “normal” leisure riders we do NOT spend so much time on the horse, but in the household, in the car or in the office. Isn’t it great to practice away from the horse without riding and then get better communication with the horse? We expect our horse to be equally good on the left and right. That should also be our goal for the riders. The feeling has to be learned and practiced “just become aware”
